300 LWMC workers maintain cleanliness at Gaddafi Stadium
LAHORE:The Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) has taken special measures to ensure a clean environment during the ICC Champions Trophy semifinal match between South Africa and New Zealand at the Gaddafi Stadium on Wednesday.
Over 300 LWMC workers, along with eight washing vehicles, participated in cleaning and washing efforts around the stadium before the match. Each enclosure of the stadium had 15 workers and one supervisor on duty to maintain cleanliness. Additionally, more than 50 workers ensured cleanliness around the stadium and parking areas. Two water bowsers were stationed around the stadium for water sprinkling, while mechanical sweepers cleared the pathways leading to and from Gaddafi Stadium.
LWMC Chief Executive Officer Babar Sahib Din stated that over 200 workers and 15 supervisors were assigned duties at the Gaddafi Stadium during the ICC Champions Trophy matches.
Security arrangements
Meanwhile, Punjab Police made stringent security arrangements during the ICC Champions Trophy semi-final match at the Gaddafi Stadium. Punjab Police, in coordination with the Pakistan Cricket Board, district administration, and security agencies, implemented a comprehensive security plan, ensuring moment-to-moment monitoring.
A spokesperson for Punjab Police confirmed that over 12,000 officers and personnel were deployed for the match. Snipers were stationed at players’ residences, along the routes, and at key vantage points around the stadium.
The Dolphin Squad, Police Response Unit, and Elite Teams conducted regular patrolling to ensure safety, while Safe City Cameras provided continuous surveillance of the stadium, team routes, and other critical areas. Additional traffic wardens were assigned to manage traffic flow and parking, ensuring smooth public movement around the venue.
Meanwhile, CCPO Lahore visited Gaddafi Stadium to review security arrangements. During his visit, the CCPO inspected security measures around the stadium, including internal and external points and various enclosures. Expressing satisfaction with the arrangements, CCPO Lahore commended the efforts of security personnel for ensuring a safe and secure environment for the high-profile match.
