The Economist Intelligence Unit’s Democracy Index 2024 ranks Pakistan as one of the ‘worst-performing’ democratic states in the world. This report shows that Pakistan is lagging behind other states in fulfilling the demands of democracy such as justice, human rights and fair elections etc. Pakistan has been undergoing turmoil for a long time and it has blocked the country’s path towards growth and development. The lack of democratic values is one of the main reasons behind the societal unrest. The challenges within the state must be taken into consideration in order to curb all the unrest and instabilities. Democratic values need to be followed and implemented.
