Cop martyred in Bajaur attack

KHAR: A cop embraced martyrdom when unidentified persons opened fire on him in Khar tehsil of Bajaur district, officials said on Sunday.

They said that the assailants opened fire on Ismail, the in-charge of the Quick Response Force, in the Badi Samoor area of Khar tehsil just before iftar. He received bullets in his body and embraced martyrdom on the spot.

Following the attack, the law-enforcement officials transferred the body to the District Headquarters Hospital in Khar.District Police Officer (DPO) Waqas Rafiq said that an investigation into the incident has been launched. “Security forces are working to identify and apprehend those responsible for the attack,” he added.
