NA panel seeks FIA, ANF’s report on Mustafa Amir murder case
Standing committee directed Ministry of Interior to get case investigated through FIA and ANF
ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Interior directed the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) on Friday to investigate the murder case of Mustafa Amir in Karachi and submit a detailed report in the next meeting.
The meeting, presided over by the committee chairman Raja Khurram Shahzad Nawaz MNA, also discussed budgetary proposals related to the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) for the financial year 2025-26 of the Ministry of Interior and its attached departments.
During the meeting, committee member bdul Qadir Patel raised questions that bank accounts were opened through forgery and drugs were being sent from Islamabad to Karachi through couriers. “How is the buying and selling of weapons done on the dark web? Where are the FIA and federal agencies,” he asked.
He said in the Mustafa Amir case, it was said that a 22-year-old boy was doing all this business himself. “It is incomprehensible that a 22-year-old boy was doing everything without any support…many characters related to the case have fled the country.”
Another committee member Agha Rafiullah said more than 500 laptops had been moved around in this case.
He alleged that a relative of the accused had been included in the investigation team in the Mustafa Amir case.
The NA panel on Interior formed a sub-committee in the Mustafa Amir case.
The additional secretary of Ministry of Interior said it would be better to form a joint investigation team (JIT) in this case, to which the committee member Nabil Gabol said the formation of a JIT was not within the power of the committee.
The FIA official said they will start investigating the Mustafa Amir case immediately, adding: “The Sindh Police are currently investigating the matter, and we will investigate it when it comes to us”. The committee summoned the Sindh inspector general of police in the next meeting.
The standing committee directed the Ministry of Interior to get the case investigated through the FIA and the ANF.
The committee unanimously approved the proposed PSDP of Rs11.70 billion for the year 2025-26, while Rs65.74 million will be spent on repair and maintenance.
