Pakistan’s first military dictator, Ayub Khan, spent millions on advertising to promote the so-called ‘Decade of Reforms’. This over-indulgence backfired and only hastened his departure from power. Unfortunately, nobody in Pakistan is willing to learn from history and similar promotion of dubious projects can also be found today in the ruling setup.
Real people-friendly projects, which generate employment, investment in education and health facilities, and rule of law, speak for themselves. They do not require promotion.
