South DIG orders crackdown on narcotics mafia in posh areas
The South Range police chief, DIG Asad Raza, has ordered a crackdown on the narcotics mafia in posh areas of District South. Officials said DIG Raza expressed concern over the complaints and reports regarding sale of narcotics in posh locality especially at coffee shops and tea houses, and ordered his subordinates, especially the District South police, to lead a crackdown on such elements and eradicate narcotics from the posh and others areas of the South Range.
They added that a team under the supervision of South SSP Mahzoor Ali has been tasked with taking action against the drug use and sale in the posh areas of the district. Police have conducted search operations at tea houses and coffee shops in Defence, Clifton and surrounding areas. Several people were detained during the operation, while the detained suspects are being transferred to the police station and legal action is being taken.
Senior police officers are monitoring the ongoing crackdown in the Darakhshan and Defence sub-divisions and details of the suspects are being checked. The personnel engaged in the crackdown are also using the Talaash App devices.
