Ramazan inflation
I am writing to highlight the growing concern of inflation and its significant impact on daily life during Ramazan in Pakistan. As the holy month progresses, the prices of essential items like fruits, vegetables, and basic groceries tend to rise, placing a severe financial strain on families, particularly those from lower-income backgrounds. The surge in prices not only affects food security but also makes it difficult for many to fulfil the charitable acts of giving and sharing that are central to Ramazan. Many families are forced to cut back on traditional foods for Iftar and Suhoor, and some struggle to make ends meet. This situation is further worsened by the lack of sufficient government interventions to regulate prices or ensure adequate support for the most vulnerable. I urge the authorities to take immediate steps to regulate prices of essential commodities during Ramazan and ensure that no one has to go without during this sacred month.
