FIA arrests human trafficker on US consulate’s complaint

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA’s) Anti-Human Trafficking Circle Karachi took action on a complaint filed by the United States authorities against an agency allegedly involved in providing fake appointment letters.

Officials said that they had received a complaint from the US consulate in Karachi in which they were informed about an agent involved in human trafficking who provided fake working visa to innocent citizens.

They added that, an inquiry was sent to the FIA’s Anti-Human Trafficking Circle, which, after a thorough probe, carried out a raid and arrested the accused involved in preparation of fake documents. The arrested accused was identified as Muhammad Mushtaq Rajput.

According to the initial investigations, the accused issued fake appointment letters to citizen. He was working at a visa consultancy where he used to issue fake appointment letters after receiving huge amounts of money.

One of the victims was approached by the FIA who revealed that an agent named Muhammad Mushtaq provided him with the said documents against Rs200,000. In a separate case, according to the FIA spokesperson, the FIA Anti-Corruption Circle Karachi arrested a suspect at a flat located near the Nishtar Park. The arrested man was identified as Kazim Raza.

The accused was in contact with hawala and hundi networks. In the raid, a total of Rs9 million was recovered from the accused along with 8,000 US dollars, 37,000 Iraqi dinars and other currencies. Moreover, two mobile phones and records related to hawala and hundi were also seized from his possession.
