Education treated like commodity in country, says JI leader
Karachi Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Emir Monem Zafar has stated that 26.2 million children aged between five and 15 years are out of schools because education is unfortunately being treated like a commodity in the country.
Addressing the Shining Star Talent Award ceremony held by Gulberg Town for seminary students and those who had made an exemplary achievement in technology or academics, he said 7.3 million children alone in Sindh were out of schools.
Unfortunately, he added, one could get education in Pakistan only if they had the resources to pay for it. As a result, only the children of rich people could afford education, he lamented. He said there was no dearth of talent in the beloved country and the only dearth the nation faced was of honest leadership.
The JI had equipped some 48,000 students with the required skills, whereas 175,000 students had enrolled on the BanoQabil programme 4.0, he stated. He maintained that the JI had always served the people of Karachi and would continue doing so.
