Police bust local, Afghan gangs
Islamabad:The police have busted local and Afghan gangs of robbers involved in criminal activities across the city.
SSP (Operations), Mohammad Shuaib Khan, addressing a press conference, said, during a crackdown on the criminals gang active in Islamabad, some of the arrested criminals have prior records, with some facing up to 18 previous cases. A gang involved in a robbery of Rs150 million from a house in Shah Allah Ditta has been apprehended, and the entire looted amount has been recovered.
The SSP said, these gangs also included Afghan nationals. Additionally, members of a group involved in snatching cash from a petrol pump in the Industrial Area police station jurisdiction have been arrested. Rs1.5 million, a motorcycle used in the crime, and weapons and ammunition have been recovered.
“We have seized 2 kilograms of Ice (crystal meth) smuggled from Balochistan. We are also cracking down on those who purchase these drugs. Some crimes involve the use of minors, which is a serious concern,” said SSP Operations Islamabad.
Crimes against children will not be tolerated under any circumstances. A dedicated female officer, SP Peri Gul Tareen, is actively working on women's issues to ensure their swift resolution. The exploitation of children in criminal activities will not be allowed. "We all have children, and their suffering should concern us equally," he emphasized.
A clear warning has been issued to land grabbers, stating that strict action will be taken against them without any discrimination, the SSP maintained.
To ensure the timely arrest of criminals, patrolling has been reactivated almost in all localities of the federal capital to counter street crimes, he added. “We need time and public cooperation to eliminate crime. Report any suspicious activity, we will verify and take strict action,” the SSP concluded.
