LAHORE:A family was robbed at gunpoint Sunday night and deprived of over Rs700,000 in cash and other valuables near the University of Management and Technology (UMT) in the limits of Township police.
The victims - a younger brother and the sister of Aamir Ghauri, the resident Editor of The News, Islamabad - filed a complaint with the Township police stating that he was returning home in the Revenue Employees Cooperative Housing Society along with his sister when the incident occurred. Bilal Shafi Ghauri told police they were intercepted by two armed robbers in a car that was parked on UMT Road, around the Township area. The criminals held both victims hostage and forced them to hand over their valuables.
