ISLAMABAD: Intelligence agencies have found that the ANP leader Mian Iftikhar Hussain was implicated in the murder case without any evidence.
Iftikhar was manhandled and subsequently arrested in Pabbi, Nowshera, on Sunday. In fact, he was stormed and encircled by the opponents after the election results and law-enforcement personnel saved him from being harmed.
Highly-placed sources told The News on Monday evening that the agencies had submitted their initial report to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif who had directed a thorough probe into the incident.
Sources said the prime minister would take an appropriate action on the basis of intelligence agencies’ reports after consultation with his close aides, including the Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan.
The report from the Khyber Pukhtunkhwa IGP is awaited and it is likely that he would also submit his report today (Tuesday). All the agencies have declared Mian Iftikhar Hussain innocent in the case, the sources added.
