Sindh Home Minister Ziaul Hassan Lanjar on Tuesday said the Kutcha area operation would continue until no dacoit remains. He also said a highway force would be formed with 50,000 youth to make the highways safe for passengers and goods transporters by preventing robberies.

Lanjar chaired a meeting to review police performance and the law and order situation in the Kutcha areas. Sindh IG Ghulam Nabi Memon, the Larkana DIG and the district SSPs concerned among others attended the meeting.

The meeting was briefed about the ongoing targeted operation against dacoits in the Kutcha areas. Lanjar said the operation would continue until no dacoit remains. The Sindh government and the Sindh police are determined and prepared to eliminate dacoits to provide a peaceful environment to the residents, he added.

He said that to effectively prevent highway robberies and make them safe for passengers and goods transporters, a highway force is being established, under which 50,000 qualified and bright youth would be recruited in the Sindh police.

A plan is afoot to make the checkpoints and pickets established on all the highways of the province safe with effective patrolling, aiming at uprooting dacoits and criminal elements, as well as eliminating their gangs, he added.

Later, in a media talk, he said Hindus also have an important role in the survival and security of democracy, adding that as citizens, they also have equal rights. He also said that the purpose of his coming to Larkana was to review the law and order situation there and observe how the police are ensuring people-friendly measures. The professional affairs of the district SSPs are free from any kind of pressure or political interference, he added.

The minister said the Zulfiqar Force is being established in the Larkana police range instead of Madadgar 15, for which 50 motorbikes are being provided. He said the government is also mulling over providing more funds to the districts of the Kutcha areas of Larkana.

He also announced the Pakistan Police Medal for DIG Nasir Aftab, and the Shikarpur and Kandhkot Kashmore SSPs for their bravery. He said robbers react strongly to the death or arrest of their accomplices and intensify their illegal activities, but the brave policemen succeed in foiling all their heinous plans.

He said the traffic flow from Larkana, Shikarpur to Kandhkot and CPEC Ghotki continues uninterrupted day and night, and this is a clear proof of the success of the police against criminals. “I ask the people of Sindh to register an FIR after a crime is committed. There is no need to fear or panic. Police are at the forefront for your safety, and will always be there.”
