CHARSADDA: Secretary Higher Education Kamran Afridi on Tuesday said the provincial government was committed to improving higher education. Addressing a gathering at the Bacha Khan University after opening a sports gala, Afridi said that various reforms were being introduced in universities to enhance the education system. He also announced that the provincial government had approved Rs 5 billion in recent months to eliminate financial deficits in various universities.
Afridi said that efforts were underway to standardise curricula across all universities in the province, as well as increase the number of students studying abroad. He stated that these reforms were crucial to ensuring better educational outcomes and to strengthen the financial sustainability of higher education institutions. He urged students to uphold strong ethical values and follow the teachings of Quaid-e-Azam and Allama Muhammad Iqbal and in their efforts to contribute to the progress and development of society.
Earlier, Afridi was welcomed by the Vice-Chancellor Dr Zahid Hussain upon arrival at Bacha Khan University. The opening ceremony of the Sports Gala was marked by a vibrant display organised by the Directorate of Sports, Bacha Khan University. The event was attended by faculty members, Heads of Departments, Registrar Dr Azaz Ahmed Khan, Director of Sports Shabana Khattak, as well as numerous students.
