Police officer shot, injured in Site area
A police official on Saturday was shot and injured by unidentified suspects near Naurus Chowrangi within the limits of the Site A Section police station.
The injured cop was identified as 47-year-old Hanif, son of Majeed Shah. He was rushed to the Civil Hospital for medical treatment, where his condition was reported to be out of danger.
Police said the injured officer served as an inspector in the SSU Security-II at Hasan Square and was currently incharge of the security of former caretaker chief minister Justice (retd) Maqbool Baqar’s residence.
The incident occurred when the injured officer was returning to his residence in Baldia Town after completing his duty. As he reached near Naurus Chowrangi, unidentified assailants opened fire on him, causing injuries.
Police said this was not apparently a robbery-related incident, and they were investigating the case from different angles.
