Pak permanent delegate to Unesco takes charge

ISLAMABAD: Ambassador Mumtaz Zahra Baloch presented her Letter of Credentials as Pakistan’s Permanent Delegate to United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization to Director-General Audrey Azoulay at Unesco Headquarters in Paris on Friday.
Following the formal ceremony, the two diplomats engaged in a productive discussion on strengthening Pakistan-Unesco cooperation in education, culture, and science. Ambassador Baloch expressed appreciation for Unesco’s initiatives and affirmed Pakistan’s ongoing commitment to advancing its global mission, particularly in her capacity as Vice-Chair of Unesco’s Executive Board.
Director-General Azoulay welcomed Ambassador Baloch to Unesco, highlighting Pakistan’s significant contributions and continued support for the organisation’s goals. Both sides agreed on the importance of enhancing collaboration in the fields of education, cultural, heritage and scientific advancement.
Ambassador Baloch brings 30 years of diplomatic experience, having served in key positions in Washington, Beijing, Geneva and Seoul, as well as Pakistan’s Ambassador to the Republic of Korea.
