Rejection of plea to hold annual aurat march slammed
LAHORE:Representatives of Aurat March Lahore and Women Action Forum (WAF) Tuesday denounced the rejection of their application to hold the annual Aurat march at Shimla Pahari on February 12, 2025 by the authorities concerned.
In a joint statement, the representatives reminded the authorities concerned that the Lahore High Court (LHC) has consistently upheld their right to hold the march. They said after efforts of seven years they carved out this space.
They vowed to proceed with their plan, underscoring that the march is a continuation of the legacy of Pakistani feminist activists who have long resisted systemic oppression. "In the face of alarming violence against women and transgender individuals across the country, we march because as it is our right, the statement read.
