MULTAN: The divisional administration has decided to launch a crackdown against illegal LPG sale and decanting in Multan division.
Commissioner Amir Kareem Khan directed the divisional administration to prepare a comprehensive list of LPG containers of the division and imposed a ban on parking LPG containers in densely populated areas. He emphasised that the presence of LPG or other chemical materials in crowded areas poses significant safety risks. Referring to a tragic incident last night that claimed six lives and left several injured, he called for immediate action. The commissioner instructed Deputy Commissioners to conduct raids on illegal LPG and take action against decanting at CNG shops, seal unsafe outlets operating without proper safety measures and
register FIRs against violators.
He also ordered a fresh inspection of fitness certificates for school buses and passenger vehicles. Traffic police, district administration, the Regional Transport Authority (RTA) and Civil Defence should jointly carry out operations to curb illegal decanting in populated areas, he ordered. Commissioner Khan stressed the importance of prioritising public safety, stating that strict measures against illegal decanting to prevent future accidents.
Meanwhile, a review meeting regarding the arrangements for matriculation exams was held under the chairmanship of Commissioner Amir Kareem Khan. During the session, the commissioner instructed officials to ensure satisfactory arrangements at examination centres. He emphasised swift action against underperforming staff from previous exams, urging the conclusion of proceedings under the PEEDA Act within the stipulated time and the determination of penalties.
Controller of the Education Board Hamid Saeed Bhatti briefed the meeting and said that 99 centres had been established for ninth class exams and 359 for 10th class. Around 4,500 superintendents and 3,736 invigilators would perform their duties during the exams, he added.
PMA expresses grief over tanker’s tragedy: The Pakistan Medical Association has expressed deep grief over the tragic incident of LPG tanker explosion and said that doctors community was untiringly serving the injured persons and providing them complete medical treatment at all levels.
Addressing a joint press conference at Nishtar Hospital II here on Monday, PMA president Prof Dr Masood Haraj said that doctors were serving beyond their duty schedule. He also demanded the government to fill out the vacant posts of doctors, administration at the most sensitive medical facility of Pak-Italian Modern Burn Hospital.He said that the tragedy of the LPG tanker explosion in Multan and the loss of precious lives as a result was very sad. The doctors were ready for every kind of service, he assured.
