Two women killed in Kohat home blast

KOHAT: Two women were killed while two children sustained injuries in a blast inside a home in Mohammadzai area in Kohat district, police said on Sunday.

According to police, the blast occurred in the house of one Mir Salam, son of Lal Bat Khan, located within the jurisdiction of the Cantonment Police Station. The explosion was so intense that it rendered the bodies unrecognizable.

The deceased were identified as Lal Bat Khan’s daughter aged 29 and the wife of Suleman aged 20.

The injured, Ehsan, 6, and Naeema Bibi, 7, both children of one Ihtisham were rushed to the District Headquarters Hospital in Kohat.

After preliminary investigations, the police said the family was manufacturing firecrackers at home for sale in the local market.

Evidence collected from the scene suggested that the explosion may have been caused by the accidental detonation of explosives.The police registered a case and launched an investigation into the incident.
