Tortured body of missing female lawyer found in canal
LAHORE : The tortured body of female lawyer, who had been missing from Nawab Town, was recovered from a canal in Hafizabad.
An FIR had been filed earlier regarding the disappearance of Advocate Saira at the Nawab Town police station, following a complaint lodged by her sister, Ayesha. Saira, who had recently married a man named Bilal, had gone missing under mysterious circumstances.
According to the Nawab Town police, the body was found in a sack in the Hafizabad canal. Authorities believe that after her death, the suspects placed her body in a sack and discarded it in the canal.
The Nawab Town police have since traveled to Hafizabad to take over the investigation.
The Hafizabad police had initially taken necessary action and buried the body. However, the case is now being re-examined as part of the ongoing investigation.
481 arrested for violations of Kite Flying Act
Punjab police registered 468 cases and arrested 481 individuals for violations of the Kite Flying Act across the province this year.
Over 30,000 kites and 953 kite string spools have been recovered, while challans for more than 300 cases have been submitted.
The spokesperson revealed that in the provincial capital Lahore, more than 180 offenders were arrested, 187 cases were registered, and over 1,000 kites and 210 kite string spools were recovered. Last year, 12,525 offenders were arrested, and 11,866 cases were registered for violations of the Kite Flying Act in Lahore and across the province.
Four injured in street race car collision
Four people were injured in a high-speed car collision during a street race in the Model Town area on Sunday.
According to eyewitnesses, the individuals in the cars were racing and performing stunts when the vehicles collided. The impact caused the cars to crash into a parked van. The injured were immediately rushed to a local hospital.
8,112 POs arrested in 25 days
Punjab Police arrested 8,112 proclaimed offenders across the province in the first 25 days of the year.
Among them, 2,445 were from Category A and 5,667 from Category B. Additionally, 3,316 judicial absconders were apprehended, including 628 from Category A.
The police also arrested 1,691 habitual offenders, with 701 from Category A. In a significant development, five proclaimed offenders were arrested from abroad and brought back to Pakistan.
