The Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA) has decided to observe a black day on February 8, 2025, all over Sindh to mark the first anniversary of the 2024 general elections, which according to the GDA utterly lacked credibility and fairness.

The decision to this effect was made by the core committee of the GDA, which met here with Pir Sahib Pagara in the chair on Friday. The core committee once again rejected the results of the 2024 general elections.

The participants of the meeting opined that a constitutional crisis had emerged in the country following the passage of the 26th Constitutional Amendment. The core committee alleged that such judges were being appointed who were not politically neutral.

The GDA also again rejected the plan of the federal government to build new canals to draw additional water from the Indus River at the cost of the water rights of the natives of Sindh. The meeting rejected the recent amendments to the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act while terming the move an attempt on the part of the government to stifle free press in the country.

It also expressed serious concern about the deteriorating law and order situation in the province especially the recurring instances of kidnapping for ransom by armed dacoits in the lawless riverine areas of the province.

The meeting urged the government to hold student union elections in the universities and colleges at the earliest. The meeting was also attended by Syed Saddurdin Shah Rashdi, Syed Zain Shah, Dr Fahmida Mirza, Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim, Dr Zulfiqar Mirza, Sardar Abdul Rahim, Ayaz Lateef Palejo, Masroor Jatoi, Raheela Gul Magsi, Nand Kumar Goklani, and other GDA leaders.
