The government is reportedly considering rebasing electricity rates from January instead of July. The excuse apparently being given by some involved is that this will minimise the protests that usually take place during summer when the consumption of power is on the higher side, resulting in inflated bills. I am shocked to learn that the government has such a drastic step in mind while still talking about lowering per unit electricity rates.
