NAB distributes Rs97m among Jeddah Town scandal victims

ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) distributed Rs97 million to 132 victims of the Jeddah Town scandal in a special ceremony held at the NAB headquarters in Islamabad on Wednesday.

Deputy Chairman NAB Sohail Nasir was the chief guest at the event, accompanied by Prosecutor General NAB Ihtesham Qader Shah, Director General of NAB Rawalpindi Mirza Irfan Beg, Director of NAB Rawalpindi Ilyas Qamar and other officials.

Addressing the ceremony, Deputy Chairman Sohail Nasir highlighted that, in line with the vision of NAB chairman, officers are working tirelessly to recover assets looted from the public.

He said that a record amount has been recovered and returned to victims over the past two years, emphasising that the NAB is performing this national duty with a sense of service and integrity.

“We are making every possible effort to recover every penny for the victims and return it to them,” he said. The deputy chairman praised NAB Rawalpindi DG Mirza Irfan Beg and his team for their professional expertise in recovering the looted funds from the Jeddah Town housing project, ensuring justice for the victims. Earlier, DG NAB Rawalpindi Mirza Irfan Beg spoke about the challenges faced in recovering the funds for Jeddah Town victims. Despite the passage of considerable time, he said that all legal requirements were met, and the victims were reassured of return of their funds. He also assured that efforts were ongoing to assist victims of other fraudulent schemes in Rawalpindi.
