ISLAMABAD: Parliamentarians from the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) staged a strong protest in the presence of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif during the National Assembly session on Tuesday.

The house erupted with loud sloganeering from the opposition benches as soon as the prime minister entered the assembly hall.

The PTI members, who have been protesting since the beginning of the ongoing session, carried placards and raised slogans demanding the release of Imran Khan and chanting, “Goli Kyon Chalai?”

The opposition members sarcastically welcomed the prime minister with slogans such as “Ooo” and “Dekho Dekho Kaun Aya” upon his arrival.

Shehbaz Sharif, who appeared to be in a pleasant mood, remained composed despite the protests. Surrounded by his party’s MNAs, he exchanged views with Defence Minister Khawaja Asif and other colleagues.

Meanwhile, the National Assembly passed the Nexus International University of Health, Emerging Sciences, and Technologies, Islamabad Bill, 2024. The private member bill was moved by PMLN MNA Anjum Aqeel Khan from Islamabad.

Another private member bill, the Qanun-e-Shahadat (Amendment) Bill, 2025, aimed at amending the Qanun-e-Shahadat Ordinance, 1984, was also introduced to the house.

As protests and sloganeering by PTI MNAs intensified, the speaker adjourned the House proceedings until Wednesday afternoon.
