LAHORE:Lahore Police has arrested 32 individuals during its ongoing campaign against encroachments and the cases were registered against the offenders at various police stations.
According to the spokesman Lahore Police, 18 arrests were made in the Cantonment Division, seven in the Civil Lines Division, four in the Saddar Division, one in the City Division and two in the Iqbal Town Division. CCPO Lahore Bilal Siddique Kamyana stated that the Lahore Police is providing full support to the district administration in the anti-encroachment drive. He emphasised that the campaign aims to improve traffic flow and ensure strict legal action against those involved in illegal encroachments, without any discrimination. The CCPO urged the citizens to act responsibly and refrain from creating encroachments, as their removal significantly contributes to smoother traffic movement.
Stolen goods worth Rs10m recovered
Investigation police from Township and Chung recovered stolen goods worth over 10 million rupees and arrested two suspects from Karachi in a major breakthrough. According to a police spokesperson, the suspects, identified as M Shehbaz and Tayyab, were apprehended with the help of CCTV footage, human intelligence, and advanced technology. The recovered items, which included jewelry, foreign currency, and cash, were handed back to their rightful owners in a ceremony led by SSP Investigation M Naveed.
The victims expressed gratitude towards the police teams and commended their efforts. “This swift recovery of our belongings has restored our faith in the police force,” one of the complainants said.
During the interrogation, the suspects confessed to targeting homes in Lahore over weekends. They revealed that they travelled from Karachi to Lahore every Friday, committing burglaries on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday before returning to Karachi with the stolen valuables.
Road accidents
As many as 16 people died, whereas 1,331 were injured in 1,258 road accidents in all 37 districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours. Out of these, 581 people with serious injuries were shifted to different hospitals, while 750 victims with minor injuries were treated at the incident site by Rescue medical teams. Furthermore, the analysis showed that 738 drivers, 63 underage drivers, 149 pedestrians, and 460 passengers were among the victims of road traffic crashes.
