LAHORE: Punjab Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Malik Faisal Ayub Khokhar Friday said extra-curricular activities are vital to the establishment of a healthy society.
Talking to reporters during his visit to the under-construction Thokar Niaz Baig gymnasium hall, the minister said: “It is right time for our youth to spend their maximum time in sports and healthy activities”.
Sports Coordinator Malik Anoosh Khokhar, Project Director Project Management Unit (PMU) Qaiser Raza, District Sports Officer Lahore Tanveer Shah and other officials were also present on the occasion.
The PMU team of Sports Board Punjab briefed the minister on the progress of the gymnasium hall building. The minister said the Punjab government is rehabilitating the sports fields across the province. He instructed the officers concerned to complete the construction work of the hall within the stipulated period.
'The unnecessary delay and complacency in the completion of important project will not be tolerated', he maintained. He said Rs320 million state-of-the-art sports gymnasium is being constructed. 'We are quite upbeat that the project will prove to be very helpful in introducing several talented athletes’.
