Ayaz tells PTI MNAs their uproar can’t browbeat him
NA speaker observes opposition members were busy in politics and were not focusing on problems faced by masses
ISLAMABAD: Amid protest and uproar by the PTI parliamentarians, National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq on Wednesday maintained that their pressure won’t deter him from conducting the proceedings and termed their behaviour against the public and national interests.
“I will not come under any pressure, and the House proceedings will be conducted as per rules,” Ayaz remarked during the Question-Hour when the PTI members were raising the ‘Goli Kion Chalai’ slogan.
He observed that the opposition members were busy in politics and were not focusing on the problems faced by the masses. “The opposition is doing this kind of politics and not politics of public,” he further remarked. He also stressed that the opposition members should refrain from protesting and raising questions on lack of quorum, as the Question-Hour was the most important part of the House proceedings during which national issues and problems of masses were brought to the notice of ministers.
Ayaz also pointed out he had time and again warned the ministers and senior officials that they should remain present during the Question-Hour.
He regretted that one of the PTI MNAs told him that he wanted to speak on the Kurram issue but walked out of the House. Minister for Law and Justice Senator Azam Nazir Tarar also regretted the opposition members’ behaviour suggesting that the House should be conducted as per rules.
