Pakistan has many sugar mills owned by a handful of politicians. One of the by-products of sugar mill is bagasse or the fibre waste material. This bagasse used to be exported as it has many uses. Due to energy shortages in Pakistan, the government has allowed some sugar mills to use their bagasse for electricity production.
But now Pakistan is producing excess electricity and from clean sources. We do not need additional dirty bagasse electricity. The government should focus on producing electricity from cheap and clean sources.
