Lineup of 44 overseas players unveiled for PSL
KARACHI: The Pakistan Super League has unveiled a lineup of 44 overseas players in the Platinum category for its upcoming Player Draft, set for Jan. 13.
The pool features top international talent from eight countries as the league prepares for its 10th season.
New Zealand’s Kane Williamson, the second-highest run-scorer in T20 internationals for his country, headlines the group alongside Tim Southee, the format’s leading wicket-taker. Other New Zealand players in the category include Adam Milne, Daryl Mitchell, Finn Allen, Jimmy Neesham, Mark Chapman, and Michael Bracewell.
Australia has the largest contingent, with 13 players in the Platinum category.
The list includes T20 World Cup 2021 winners Ashton Agar, David Warner, and Daniel Sams, as well as Usman Khawaja, who previously represented Islamabad United in PSL 2021.
Afghanistan’s Mujeeb-ur-Rehman and Naveen-ul-Haq, along with England’s Sam Billings and Tymal Mills — both past PSL champions — are among the pool’s notable names. South Africa is represented by Imran Tahir, Rassie van der Dussen, Reeza Hendricks, and Tabraiz Shamsi.
Sri Lanka’s T20I captain Charith Asalanka and Kusal Mendis are also part of the group, while Jason Holder leads a West Indies contingent of six players. Bangladesh stars Mustafizur Rahman and Shakib Al Hasan round out the Platinum pool.
“We are thrilled to announce a 44-strong and exciting contingent of overseas Platinum picks for the PSL 2025 Player Draft,” said Salman Naseer, PSL’s chief executive officer. “Combined with the Pakistan stars, we have an exciting pool of talent available. All eyes are now on Jan. 13 when the final squads for the six franchises will be determined.”
Naseer also expressed gratitude to all the players who registered, highlighting the importance of the league’s milestone season. “Irrespective of what happens on Draft Day, I deeply thank all the players and wish them good luck,” he said.
The draft will finalize the rosters for the six franchises as the PSL’s landmark 10th edition approaches, promising to enthrall cricket fans worldwide.
