Police claim arresting two ‘AQIS terrorists’ in Gulshan-e-Iqbal
Anti-aircraft gun, five kilograms of ball bearings, hand grenades, detonators, ball bombs,
30-bore pistol and explosive materials were found in a hideout of the suspects

Two men alleged to be members of the banned terrorist outfit, al Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent (AQIS) were arrested by officials of the Gulshan police station early Friday morning; weapons were also recovered from their hideout.
Identified as Abdul Basit and Mohammad Noman, according to police the men were arrested in a raid conducted on a tip-off with respect to the men hiding in Block-13D, Fahad Garden.
The two were alleged to have opened fire on the police but the law enforcers managed to arrest him following a brief encounter.
During a search of their hideout anti-aircraft gun, five kgs of ball bearings, hand grenades, detonators, ball bombs, 30 bore pistol and other explosive materials were found from their hideout.
The officials further claimed that the men confessed to be members of the AQIS and hailed from Punjab. Both the men were well educated and had received militant training from Afghanistan.
They had expertise in operating all weapons and were also involved in attacks on security forces, the officials further alleged. Further investigations are underway.
Drug peddler held
A drug peddler with two kilograms of hashish on him was arrested from Jhangvi Chowk, Ittehad Town.
The police said they were patrolling the area near X-10 bus stop when they signalled a person, who appeared to be walking suspiciously, to stop. The man, however, attempted to run but was arrested by policemen chasing him.
During a body search they recovered two kilograms of hashish. The suspect was shifted to the police station where he was identified as Khuda Daad alias Talib Khan a notorious drug peddler operating from the area for the past several months.
ANF raid
Personnel of the anti-narcotics force Sindh (ANF) during a raid in Mauripur recovered six kilograms of hashish from the Mauripur Truck Adda from a truck parked in a warehouse.
In a separate raid, the ANF personnel arrested two men and recovered 20kgs of heroin stored in 28 bags of rice.
