PCB to announce domestic cricketers’ contracts later this month
LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is gearing up to announce domestic cricketers’ contracts later this month. According to PCB sources, the selection process for the contracts has already been finalised.
The initiative, originally announced in August 2024, aims to provide contracts to 150 domestic players as part of the board’s strategy to professionalise the domestic cricket structure. Players in Category-1 will receive a monthly salary of PKR 550,000, marking a significant step toward enhancing the financial stability of domestic cricketers.
By introducing better compensation, the board hopes to raise the standard of domestic cricket and create a robust pipeline of players for the national team. The delay in the official announcement has been attributed to the ongoing domestic cricket season, which began in August. PCB insiders confirmed that the contracts would be finalised and disclosed before the end of the month.
