AFP to hire qualified coaches for elite athletes
KARACHI: The Athletics Federation of Pakistan (AFP) in its Annual General Council Meeting decided to engage renowned international coaches for elite athletes, including Arshad Nadeem, Yasir Sultan, and Shajjar Abbas.
Preparations for the SAAF Cross-Country Championships in Islamabad were also on the agenda. The camp for Pakistan athletes for the SAAF cross-country championships will start immediately in Islamabad.
The meeting was held under the chairmanship of Brigadier Wajahat Hussain (Retd), President of AFP. Olympic gold medalist Arshad Nadeem attended the meeting in the capacity of Chairman of the Athletes Commission and was accorded a standing ovation by the house for his historic achievement. It was decided that the AFP would provide operational and technical support to marathon and road races inside the country including label races under the auspices of World Athletics.
