Woman, minor grandson killed in Super Highway accident
A woman and her three-year-old grandson lost their lives in a tragic accident near the Chakar Hotel on the Super Highway on Friday. The incident took place on early Friday morning when a speeding car fatally struck the woman and her toddler grandson.
The deceased woman was identified as 50-year-old Khursheeda. She and her three-year-old grandson Zohaib had travelled from Muzaffargarh, Punjab, to Karachi to attend her nephew's wedding.
According to police report, Khursheeda was accompanied by four to five female relatives when she arrived in Karachi on a passenger bus. She was crossing the Super Highway with her grandson in her arms when the accident occurred.
The driver fled the scene. The bodies were transported to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities and then handed over to the family who declined further legal action. Khursheeda would have stayed at her brother's residence in Mulla Essa Brohi Goth, Gulshan-e-Maymar, for the wedding festivities. Police said they were trying to apprehend the suspect.
