Sindh Police Chief Ghulam Nabi Memon chaired a meeting on Friday at the Central Police Office (CPO) in Karachi to review security arrangements for the upcoming anti-polio campaign, set to begin on December 16.
The meeting was attended by Additional IG Karachi, SSPs from District South and City, AIGs of Operations and Administration, while Range and Divisional DIGs, as well as District SSPs, participated via video link.
IG Sindh emphasised the importance of ensuring foolproof security measures during the seven-day campaign, instructing all SSPs to oversee the deployment of security forces to guarantee the smooth and effective execution of the campaign. He further assured that he himself would monitor and supervise the security arrangements throughout the initiative.
He specifically highlighted the need for police to facilitate the access of polio teams in challenging areas, such as the Kacha region, and work to persuade families who are hesitant to vaccinate their children. He stressed that every child must receive the polio vaccine to successfully complete the campaign.
Additionally, IG Sindh directed all district SSPs to arrange meetings with relevant officers and the district administration to coordinate efforts. He also mentioned that police headquarters should be contacted for any additional personnel required for the campaign.
Additional IG Karachi Javed Alam Odho emphasised that the presence of DIGs and SSPs in the field would be crucial for the success of the campaign. He urged all officers to actively participate and ensure the safety, security, and smooth implementation of the anti-polio campaign.
