A motorcycle rider was shot dead by robbers in Gulistan-e-Jauhar during a mugging attempt in Friday. The suspects fled the scene with the victim's mobile phone and cash. This tragic incident brings the number of people killed in robbery-related shootings in the city this year to 105.

Friday’s tragic incident occurred near Munawar Chowrangi within the jurisdiction of the Gulistan-e-Jauhar police station. The victim's body was taken to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center.

Police identified the deceased as 35-year-old Fahad Hussain, a resident of Korangi, based on his driving licence found at the scene. Fahad was working as a motorcycle rider for a private company.

CCTV footage revealed that Fahad was standing under a tree when two motorbike-riding robbers approached him. The suspects snatched his phone and attempted to flee. Fahad tried to grab one of the robbers from behind, prompting the other to shoot him.

According to police, Fahad sustained two gunshot wounds -- one to his chest, exiting through his right shoulder, and another to his abdomen, exiting through his back. His mobile phone was missing, likely taken by the robbers. Separately, a 25-year-old security company supervisor, Owais, son of Murad Hussain, was injured during a mugging bid in the Taimuria area. He was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. In another incident, a 20-year-old, Al-Nawaz, son of Amir Nawaz, sustained a stray bullet injury near Ghulbai Mazar in the Sher Shah area. He was taken to the Civil Hospital.
