Floodlights to be installed at PSB Karachi centre
KARACHI: The administration of Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) has started work to install floodlights and lay two synthetic turfs for Hockey 5 and Hockey 7, The News learnt on Friday.
Floodlights towers have reached the field and digging for laying synthetic turfs is also going on. Laying a new tartan track for athletics has been delayed for a long time. The tartan track at the centre is 28 years old.
Sources said that the installation of floodlights would be a great development for the promotion of sports and athletes of various disciplines. After installation of floodlights, night competitions for athletics, football, hockey and some other disciplines would be possible.
A group of athletes said that it is good that floodlights are being installed but the tartan track should also be replaced. The athletes said that no big athletic competitions are possible at the centre because of the poor condition of the track.
