ANF recovers Rs577 million drugs in 16 operations

The Anti Narcotics Force (ANF) recovered 20kg heroin, 716kg hashish, 1.3kg amphetamine and 4.8kg opium in 16 operations conducted in different parts of the country and arrested 21 persons. 

The value of the impounded drugs is estimated at Rs577 million.

The ANF conducted operations at Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Attock, Lahore, Multan, Dera Ismail Khan, Peshawar, Nowshera, Karachi and Quetta and arrested 21 persons, including 3 foreigners, and impounded 7 vehicles. 

According to details, ANF Karachi intercepted a truck near Bismillah Market, Super Highway, Karachi, and recovered 700kg hashish concealed in its secret cavities. Three persons on board -- Ezzat Wali, Naseer Ahmed and Akhtar Ullah -- were arrested in the operation. 

In another operation, ANF Karachi Airport Team arrested Abdullah, a resident of Kech, at Jinnah International Airport, Karachi, after recovery of 4.8kg opium concealed in his bag. He was to leave for Doha by Qatar Airways Flight No. QR-611. 

In another operation, ANF Karachi arrested a local drug peddler, Gul Dad Shah, after recovery of 7.5kg hashish from him. He was arrested near Hospital Chowrangi, Landhi. 

In another operation, ANF Karachi Road Check Team  arrested 2 drug peddlers, Muhammad Shahid and Muhammad Munawar Khan, while they were riding on a motorcycle near Caltex Petrol Pump, Star Gate, Sharah-e-Faisal and recovered 3kg heroin from them.

ANF Lahore intercepted a UK-bound parcel containing baby clothes at the office of courier service company and recovered 115 grams of heroin concealed inside it. 

In another operation, ANF Lahore Airport Team arrested a passenger, Allah Ditta, a resident of Khushab, at Multan International, while he was boarding for Madina by Emirates Airlines Flight No. EK-631 and recovered 970 grams amphetamine concealed in his suitcase.

ANF Rawalpindi arrested a local drug supplier and recovered 1.2 kilograms of hashish from him. He was arrested at Kamra Bus Stop, GT Road, Attock. 

In another operation, ANF Rawalpindi Road Check Team during routine profiling at Gondal Bus Stop, GT Road, Attock, intercepted a Suzuki Mehran car, recovering 6kg of hashish from its secret cavities. A man on board identified as Ghufran Ullah, a resident of Nowshera, was arrested during the operation. 

In another operation, ANF Rawalpindi Airport Team arrested 3 Nigerians named Simon Amadi Azubieke, Sunny Michael Ochiele and Philip Okechuwy Amuzie at Benazir Bhutto International Airport, Islamabad, who confessed to carrying heroin-filled capsules in their stomachs. They intended to board for Istanbul by Turkish Airlines Flight No. TK-741. 

In fourth operation, ANF Rawalpindi recovered 500 grams of hashish from possession of a drug peddler who was arrested near Zeeshan Mango Juice Corner, Murree Road, Rawalpindi. 

In fifth operation, ANF Rawalpindi arrested a local drug supplier while he was riding a motorcycle near Haro Toll Plaza, GT Road, Attock, recovering 1.3 kilograms of heroin from his possession.

ANF Peshawar recovered 4.8 kilograms of hashish from Arsh Ullah, a resident of Peshawar, who was arrested near Motorway Toll Plaza, while travelling in a passenger van. 

In another operation, ANF Peshawar arrested a drug peddler named Ali Muhammad, a resident Khyber Agency, after recovery of 500 grams of heroin. He was arrested at Daewoo Bus Terminal, Peshawar. 

In another operation, ANF Peshawar Airport Team arrested a passenger identified as Raza Muhammad, a resident of Mardan, at Peshawar Airport and recovered 360 grams of amphetamine concealed in his trolley bag. He was boarding for Jeddah by Shaheen Airlines Flight No. NL-721. 

In another operation, ANF Peshawar road check team intercepted a Suzuki Mehran car at Pusha Pul, Bannu Road, Dera Ismail Khan and recovered 2 kilograms of hashish concealed in it. Two men on board identified as Rashid Khan and Sahir Shah were arrested during the operation. 

In fifth operation, ANF Peshawar intercepted a Suzuki Mehran car near Amangarh Bridge, Nowshera, and recovered 6 kilograms of heroin. A drug trafficker identified as Raheem Khan was taken into custody. As per initial investigation, heroin was being smuggled to Rawalpindi.

ANF Quetta, on pursuance of information, intercepted a Toyota Passo near D-Block Chowk, Turbat-Gwadar Road, District Kech, seizing 9 kilograms of heroin. However, the men on board managed to escape from the scene taking advantage of darkness. 

All cases have been registered at ANF police stations and further investigation is under progress.
