Reconnect with the earth
Many of us experience illness from time to time and worry about our overall health. We live in nature but often do not connect with it. Although we are on the earth, we rarely touch it. One important element of nature is Mother Earth. One simple and quick way to reconnect with the earth is to walk barefoot.
“This is where naturopathy comes in. Naturopathy is an alternative healing system. It aims to re-establish our connection with the five elements of nature: fire, water, earth, air, and space, and in doing so, promote healing,” says Safdar Abbas.
“Nature has made our feet sensitive, and we have numerous acupressure points on them that require massage from time to time. However, we often deprive our feet of the chance to feel different surfaces by continuously wearing thick sandals or walking on flat, tiled floors,” says Baqir Ali.
“No baby ever wore shoes while learning to walk. The joy of taking that first step comes from the baby discovering the strength of their leg muscles and finding balance through awareness of the muscles in their feet. Most children dislike wearing shoes. Wearing shoes and socks all day can render our feet numb,” explains Danial Haider.
“Nature nourishes and supports us in more ways than we realize. Soil has healing properties; it can draw out toxins from our bodies. Minerals that might otherwise be lost on their way to us can instead seep in directly from our connection with the earth,” says Mohsin Raza.
“Try this simple experiment: Walk on bare earth for fifteen minutes twice a day. If you cannot find any bare earth, walk on a footpath, but make sure it is not too smooth; some mud and pebbles are ideal. Walk slowly, allowing the earth to connect with you. It might be uncomfortable at first, but soon your feet will begin to enjoy the natural massage. You may find that most of your bodily aches and pains diminish within a week,” adds Mohsin.
“Walking barefoot is particularly beneficial for knee pain, joint stiffness, and back pain. A study found that the occurrence of arthritis and varicose veins is much lower in villages, likely due to the practice of walking barefoot. Additionally, barefoot walking significantly improves digestion due to its acupressure effects,” says Wajdan Haider.
“It is important to take care of your feet if you walk barefoot. This can include a warm footbath at night, followed by a quick massage with oil. Soaking your feet in warm water for five to ten minutes can refresh your entire being, and the massage will help soothe any tension,” adds Wajdan.
Aqrab Ali says, “Nature cure is an affordable and straightforward approach to alternative healing. All it requires is a bit of courage to step out of our comfort and fashion zones.”
