Begum Nasim Wali warns against politicising CPEC
CHARSADDA: Chairperson Awami National Party-Wali (ANP-W) Begum Nasim Wali Khan said on Sunday that the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) could change the destiny of the nation and urged the stakeholders to refrain from politicising the project.
Talking to reporters after a briefing by the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) committee members at Wali Bagh here, she said that after the briefing she felt that another conspiracy was being hatched against Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
“The project is a game-changer for the Pakhtuns and I feel that efforts should be made for the rights of Pakhtuns,” she said, adding that politicising the project would not do any service.
She stressed the need for raising the issue at every forum with arguments and facts.Begum Nasim Wali said that she would continue efforts for Pakhtuns’ rights, adding that she would follow the path of Bacha Khan and Wali Khan.
The ANP-W chairperson said that her late father-in-law and husband had warned the country’s establishment of the consequences of becoming a part of the Afghan war.
“Pakistan’s security establishment is responsible for terrorism in the region,” she claimed adding these leaders had rejected the term Jihad for the Afghan war and claimed that it was a struggle for power but the security establishment did not pay heed to their advice.
Commenting on the closure of the Pak-Afghan border, she said that the border had not been sealed by the British rulers despite holding enormous power. She remarked that Pakistan’s security establishment could not seal the border.
