PESHAWAR: The five-day ‘Peace Football Tournament’ concluded here on Friday.About 16 teams from different districts participated in the tournament, which was organised in collaboration with the Pakistan Army, Frontier Corps North and the district administration.
In the thrilling finale, Bajaur emerged victorious by defeating Chitral in the penalty shootout. Inspector General Frontier Corps, North, Major General Anjum Riaz was the chief guest on the occasion.
Medals, trophies and prizes were awarded to outstanding players by Major General Anjum Riaz, who
commended the participants for their skills and sportsmanship.The local community expressed their gratitude to the Pakistan Army and Frontier Corps North for organizing such a successful tournament.
The local people said that the ongoing peace in Bajaur was a result of the joint efforts of the people and security forces. They called for organizing more such sports events in the future to foster unity and peace in the region.
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Peace Football Tournament not only showcased the athletic talents of the region but also underscored the importance of sports in promoting harmony and stability in the area.
