PU, UK varsity to collaborate on academic, research activities
LAHORE:Punjab University and Brunel University of London have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to promote academic and research activities with joint efforts.
In this regard, the MoU signing ceremony was held at the PU VC office’s committee room here on Thursday. On this occasion, PU VC Prof Dr Muhammad Ali, Prof Dr Sean Holmes from Brunel University of London, Head PU School of Communication Studies Prof Dr Noshina Saleem, Director External Linkages Prof Dr Yaamina Salman and others were present. According to the MoU, both the universities will jointly strengthen academic relations between institutions. They will work on academic resources, scholars, students exchange for study, research and training programmes. Dr M Ali said that the MoU will be benefiting for both the institutions. He stressed the need to enhance mutual cooperation for promotion of research among the institutions of both the countries.
PU, UET VCs discuss uplift of higher education
Punjab University Vice Chancellor Prof Dr M Ali called on University of Engineering and Technology Lahore Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Shahid Munir at his office on Thursday. During the meeting, both the VCs shared their thoughts about the development of higher education, its challenges and the importance of research culture in new innovations. They also shared their experiences and discussed modernising the university, its development and stability.
Dr Shahid Munir also pledged to benefit from the guidance and advice of Dr M Ali in future. PU VC expressed hope that UET would achieve a prominent position in the fields of knowledge and research under the leadership of Dr Shahid Munir.
Symposium on livestock diseases
A national symposium on ‘Bovine Brucellosis & Control Strategies’ was held at the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) here on Thursday. UVAS Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Younus presided over the inaugural session of the symposium while Emeritus Prof Dr Masood Rabbani, Director Institute of Microbiology (IOM) Prof Dr Aftab Ahmed Anjum, researchers, stakeholders, health care professionals, dairy farmers, UVAS faculty members and students were present. Speaking on the occasion, Prof Dr Muhammad Younus said that brucellosis was one of the most pressing zoonotic diseases which badly affected livestock production and caused the economic loss of livestock farmers. He called MPhil and PhD scholars to choose topics for research thesis to address the livestock and dairy sector issue.
