PESHAWAR: The Insaf Lawyers Forum (ILF) on Wednesday asked the provincial government to declare a three-day mourning across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa against the alleged brutality faced by workers of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) at the D-Chowk in Islamabad.
The forum also asked the provincial government to compensate the families of the PTI workers.The demands were made during a protest organized by ILF Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Khyber Road, where the activists briefly blocked traffic to express their outrage.
The demonstration was led by ILF leaders Alam Khan Adenzai and others.Speakers at the protest, they condemned the federal and Punjab governments, as well as the Islamabad administration, accusing them of using excessive force against unarmed PTI workers and leaders at D-Chowk.
The ILF leaders demanded action from the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Bar Council, urging them to announce a province-wide strike over the alleged disappearance of a KP Bar Council member during the protest.
The forum called upon the provincial government to observe a three-day mourning and announce financial assistance for affected families.The ILF activists also pledged free legal assistance to secure the release of PTI workers who were detained during the protest in Islamabad.“We stand firmly with the victims of this injustice and will continue to fight for their rights,” an ILF activist said.
