Abul Barakat passes away
LAHORE : Syed Abul Barakat, former Pakistan Times Editor-in-Chief, passed away on Saturday after remaining in a state of coma for a year.
He was the son of late Abu al-Khair Ala Maududi and nephew of Maulana Syed Abul Ala Maududi. His funeral prayers were offered after Isha prayers in Model Town G Block. Javed Nawaz, former Honorary Business Counselor in Sultanate of Oman, said Syed Sahib’s services are unforgettable. He also worked in Radio China Service, and his journalistic services as Chief Editor of Pakistan Times will always be remembered. Renowned personalities of Model Town, including Haroon-ur-Rashid Abbasi, Haseeb Ahmed, Dr Waqar Ahmed Niaz, Chairman Rehman Foundation, and Sardar Humayun Khan, have expressed sorrow over the death of Syed Abul Barakat. They paid tribute to his academic, literary and journalistic services in wonderful words.
