India, Pakistan grouped together in Women’s U19 Asia Cup
KARACHI: Traditional rivals Pakistan and India have been drawn into the same group for the inaugural Under-19 Women’s Asia Cup, according to the tournament schedule released by the Asian Cricket Council.
The tournament will take place in Malaysia from Dec. 15 to 22, featuring six teams competing for the title. Group A includes Pakistan, India, and Nepal, while Group B comprises hosts Malaysia, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka.
Pakistan will face India in a high-stakes clash on the opening day, Dec. 15. Their second group-stage match against Nepal is set for Dec. 16. The top two teams from each group will progress to the Super Four stage, scheduled for Dec. 19 and 20. In this phase, teams will play against the top qualifiers from the opposite group. The championship final is slated for Dec. 22, where the top two teams from the Super Four stage will compete for the trophy.
Pakistan and India being placed in the same group has become a regular feature in ICC and ACC events, reflecting the intensity and importance of their cricketing rivalry at every level of the sport.
