Organisers say Horse and Cattle Show drew huge crowd
PESHAWAR: The Horse and Cattle Show that concluded here was the first of its kind in the history of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and drew huge crowds on all three days, said organisers on Monday.
The closing ceremony on the third day at Karnal Sher Khan Stadium in Peshawar was attended by special guests Provincial Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Syed Fakhar Jihan and Minister for Public Health Engineering Pakhtun Yar Khan. They distributed trophies and cash prizes to the winning participants.
They were accompanied by Dera Ismail.Khan Mayor Umar Amin Khan Gandapur, Sports Secretary Matiullah Khan, Director General of Sports Abdul Nasir, Director Merged Districts Raziullah, Director of Operations Naematullah, Deputy Director Jamshed Baloch, and other notable personalities.
On the last day of the event, organized by the Directorate General of Sports Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, thrilling and exciting tent pegging competitions were held.In addition to horse and cattle races, the event featured pigeon flying competition, traditional games, music, art exhibitions, folk dances, a family festival, poetry gatherings, dog shows, and a vintage car show.
Around 1,000 horses participated in the tent pegging competition during the show, and other traditional games included kabaddi, wrestling, camel racing, camel dancing, dog racing, and 16 more contests.
The cultural music show entertained women, children, and young people alike. Artists and Bands captivated the audience with their stunning performances, leaving music fans delighted.Various food and display stalls also attracted much attention, and renowned singers added a final touch to the event during a late-night musical show, enhancing the closing moments.
Speaking at the third-day ceremony, Provincial Minister for Sports Syed Fakhar Jehan stated that this Horse and Cattle Show was a major event for the province, organized by the present government.
“The government aims to revive traditional and cultural games and festivals, as these are an integral part of our historical identity,” he said and added that steps were being taken to promote sports in the province to foster a peaceful and healthy society.
