‘46pc drop in heinous crimes observed’

LAHORE:Lahore has seen a significant 46 per cent drop in heinous crimes in October 2024 compared to the same period last year.
According to the Lahore Police Operations Wing, reported cases fell from 5,814 in October 2023 to 2,663 in October 2024. Robbery cases dropped by 77 per cent, from 1,577 to 441, while burglary cases decreased by 39%, from 466 to 288.
No car snatchings at gunpoint were reported in October 2024, and motorcycle snatchings fell by 62%. Car theft incidents declined by 52 per cent, and motorcycle theft incidents by 43 per cent. Overall, total crime incidents in October dropped from 31,170 in 2023 to 26,044 this year.
