ISLAMABAD: Advocate Faisal Chaudhry, a member of the founding chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) legal team, said on Saturday that there would be no deal involving Imran Khan.
In a conversation with journalists outside the Adiala jail in Rawalpindi, he clarified that the foreign delegation visiting Adiala jail had no connection with the PTI founder. The lawyer also emphasized that Imran Khan did not meet with any foreign delegation. He pointed out that Imran Khan had not spoken at the last two hearings. Imran Khan has instructed his legal team to approach the Supreme Court over violations of basic human rights, as he intends to continue advocating for the supremacy of the Constitution and rule of law.
Chaudhry said that Imran Khan has directed his team to file a contempt petition over the obstruction of jail meetings, saying that newspapers have not been provided to him for the past 30 days and that his TV has not been returned.
Faisal Chaudhry also conveyed that the PTI chief is concerned about the recent abduction of PTI lawyer Intizar Panjotha. Commenting on the country’s current affairs, he remarked the government is failing to manage the economy and emphasized that an independent judiciary is essential for upholding the rule of law. “If the judiciary is independent, only then can the rule of law be established,” he maintained.
