As a primary school student, I learned the idiom 'Do not cut the branch you are sitting on'. Lately, the depth of this idiom has made sense to me with heart and soul. Lust for power, luxurious spending, self-aggrandizement, detraction from austerity, and disdain for laws and rules are the hallmarks of our public officials and politicians.
Who will remind them that their luxuries are tied to the existence of the country?
