ISLAMABAD: It is an honour for The News to have reported on October 19 the likelihood of Justice Yahya Afridi being named the next chief justice of Pakistan. Editor Investigation at The News Ansar Abbasi cited sources within the treasury benches, stating, “The government and its allies would favour Justice Yahya Afridi for the appointment, should the constitutional amendment package be passed.” He further reported on October 22 that Justice Afridi would be the government’s first choice.
