Odho orders effective strategy against crime, terrorism

Karachi police chief Javed Alam Odho on Friday held a Darbar at the Sindh Boys Scouts Auditorium where he directed police officers to formulate an effective strategy against crime and terrorism.

Odho addressed the DIGs of admin, CIA, investigation and traffic, Karachi range DIGs, SSPs, SPs of investigation, SSPs of AVLC, SIU, and AVCC, SHOs, SIOs, and traffic SOs.

He appreciated the performance of the police and directed them to make Chinese security as foolproof as possible.

He directed the senior officers should to thoroughly review the security arrangements. He stressed the need for taking important steps for the security of the police establishment. Moreover, he also ordered combing operations, increased patrolling and other operational operations to end crime in the city.

Odho instructed the officers to take steps to make it possible for the public to approach the police. He also ordered increasing snap checking, and blocking the city's internal and exit points and activating intelligence networks.

Moreover, strict measures should be taken for drug elimination, and against theft of vehicles and other organized crimes. The investigation officers should bring about innovation in investigations and ensure an immediate identification parade for suspects after arresting them so that they can be given the strictest punishment.

Odho told the traffic police to improve efficiency, maintain traffic flow in the city and ensure enforcement of traffic rules. He paid tribute to the sacrifices made by the Karachi police for the elimination of crime.

Later, Additional IG Odho arrived at the Chinese Consulate. He conveyed his condolences to the Chinese consul general over the death of two Chinese nationals in October 6 blast near the airport. The police chief recorded his views in the condolence book.

Meanwhile, a major reshuffling took place in the Karachi police where 10 DSPs were transferred and posted.

As per orders, DSP Muhammad Asif Arain has been posted as DSP Investigation Saeedabad, and DSP Abdul Wahab Pitafi has been posted as DSP Investigation Orangi Town. DSP Shaukat Ali Malhan has been posted as DSP Investigation Clifton. DSP Saad Jabbar has been posted as DSP Landhi.

Moreover, DSP Syed Abdul Ghaffar Shah has been transferred to DSP AVLC-CIA Karachi, DSP Sohail Akhtar Khan has been posted as DSP Investigation Gulshan, and DSP Syed Shahbaz Ali Shah has been made DSP Operation CIA Karachi. DSP Malik Arif Usman has been appointed as DSP Admin AVLC-CIA Karachi. DSP Syed Ehsan Zulfiqar has been appointed as DSP Admin AVCC CIA Karachi.
